Some Awesome Wallets
2012-04-03Our sister site awesomewallets.com continuously list amazing designs found while browsing Ihe Interwebs. Here’s a round up of some of the latest gems:
The natural tanning process of leather wallets
2012-02-20Wallets tend to have a lot of different caracteristics. Some are not even visible when you first see them, other evolves over time.
One thing with leather wallets is that they tend to gain a beautiful worn surface and color over time. Kind of like a natural, but slow, tanning process.
We got a mail from Jesse showing a wallet he made for himself. This illustrates the changes over two years. Beautiful!
Thanks Jesse, for sharing this piece of beauty!
Paperwallet – Artist collection
2012-02-10Wallets in paper have a tendency not to be as durable as, say leather wallets, or the ones in metal.
This artist collection of paper wallets claims to be faux paper though. Call me ignorant buy I’ve never heard of the material Tyvek before, but they claim it’s “almost indestructible”, “flexible” and “resistant-to-damn-near-everything”.Trust them or not – but the design is powerful.

An odd one: The William Wallet from Wintercheck Factory
2011-11-01Innovative concepts are always welcome. It’s not always that they succeed in being functional though, but this ones seems to make it. And, it’s also visually very pleasing.

William Wallet (card case?) from Wintercheck Factory. Design by Kristen Wentrcek.
Thanks to Svékus Gergely for sharing this wallet with us!
The connoisseur wallet
2011-09-20From Makr comes this very delicious wallet / card case: “Horizon Three Wallet“. It’s very hand made, edge painted and polished to perfection. The leather is Saddle Tan Horween® Chromexcel®. Just look at that – two “®”‘s in the material name!

The price is in comparison. A hefty $90. But hey, it’s VERY beautiful!
Capsule wallet from Porter by Yoshida
2011-09-11This black delight, Capsule Wallet, from japanese label Porter by Yoshida gives me severe cravings.

At time of writing it’s out of stock, but keep an eye out for it if it comes back!
Star gazing
2011-06-16Here’s a wallet that tickles a nerve for me – the Astronomy Billfold.
It’s not really that beautiful a wallet in my opinion, but the idea with a lasercut star constellation (Northern Cross and Big Dipper in this case) is just brilliant!
Laser cut patterns on wallets is not the uncommon, and there are some that are really nice. This one however, brings another dimension to it. Nice!
However, a price of $150 is way to much though. Seriously Hlaska – you could do better.
In the mail
2011-06-13They nice folks over at Lifethreal sent a flowfold wallet for us to review. (Thanks!)

To be honest, my initial reaction is that it feels a bit plastic. But then when you start investigating it a bit, pulling and streaching, you quickly realise that the sailcloth it’s made of makes it tough and (I assume) very durable.
This is probably the absolute opposite of an elegant black leather wallet. Though in a positive way! It has a very sporty feel to it, and given that it’s made of sailcloth it’s hard to imagine something more “sporty”. The colors adds to it also, of course.

Simply put – it’s a wallet with character and boldness. Probably well worth trying out if that’s the kind of style you’re after!
You can find them for little less than $30 here. Say hi from me!
The vintage trend
2011-05-19Vintage is reaching over hype at the moment. A backlash is sure to come. Perhaps all newly produced “vintage looking” accessories and artifacts are a sign of that.
Nonetheless, some still do it with a genuine touch. Nic & Mel says they bring back the best from history. Can’t say I disagree when looking at this “Bigwallet Buck”
